House Hunting ...FAIL

My husband and I are beginning the process of buying our first home. Tonight we had our first appointment with the realtor to look at three homes that we were curious about.  The first one was just kind of  ehhh.  The second house on our list we decided not even to go inside because the exterior needed so much work and the third must have sold because there was no sign in the yard and no realtor key for us to go inside.  So not a very productive evening, hopefully next time will go better.
I will continue to tell myself not to feel stress about this, we will find the perfect home for our family!

The Conception Game after PCOS

When we were trying to have Baby J, I was diagnosed with PCOS. It took us 18 months of charting, temp taking, and finally Provera to regulate my cycles but we did it!
This time around I am trying to take control of my body before it comes to any meds to have a baby. The first time I was still hanging onto all of my extra college weight. So after J was born I lost all of my pregnancy weight plus an additional 20 lbs. I also am taking a really heavy duty Prenatal supplement. Just those small changes seem to have made a HUGE difference so far. Before I knew I had PCOS, my cycles were 150 days or longer, and now they are down to 41 days! I am still nursing my 18 month old Baby J so I did not expect to be this "regular." I guess time will tell, but things seem to be looking up and maybe we will have an easier time this go around.

Parenting with sanity in mind

This morning while watching a friend's 5 year old, he asked if he was allowed to sing Jingle Bells, confused I said "sure." After serenading me with his wonderful, and very animated rendition of the Christmas classic he said "I'm not allowed to sing that at home until after Thanksgiving." Holding back a slight laugh I said "Really, who told you that?"  "My Daddy, he says no Christmas stuff before Thanksgiving ...it drives him nuts."

At first, this seemed strange to me, they are just kids and what kind of kid doesn't love a good Christmas song (excluding the ones that don't observe this holiday of course)? Then I turned on the television and was bombarded with holiday sale adds featuring Santa and elves, checked my email and there was nothing but companies sending me their Top Gift Lists and recalled last night's trip to the grocery store where every isle was decorated like a winter wonderland already.  I get it now, lets take it one holiday at a time. I also realized that my eighteen month old son is still too young to really drive me crazy with constant Christmas talk like a 5 year old would.  Once in a while you may need to parent children so that you can maintain your own sanity, even if it means ruling out or limiting things that really are harmless.
